6. LG’s Prime Steakhouse

74-225 Highway 111
Palm Desert, California  92260
(760) 779-9799

LG’s Prime Steakhouse celebrates its 17th year in business and is proud to be named on Tom Horan’s Top Ten Steakhouses Hall of Fame for the fourth year. LG’s is also the recipient of many National and International awards including  DiRōNA Award of Excellence from Distinguished Restaurants of North America, the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and the Sterling Silver Award from the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association, Palm Springs Life Readers Choice Award, and the Auto Club’s AAA Approved Diamond Rated Award for 2008.

LG, Leon Greenberg has become quite a celebrity in this desert community. In 2004, LG was honored by the City of Palm Springs with his own star on the “Palm Springs Walk of Stars”, in front of the Palm Springs restaurant. The star cites LG as a Restaurateur and Humanitarian and his birth date, July 1st was declared “LG Day” by proclamation from the Mayor.

Located just minutes from Palm Springs, California, LG’s Prime Steakhouse in Palm Desert stands in the middle of the golf capital of the U.S. LG’s desert charm is partly due to being housed in an old historic adobe building in Palm Desert.

As you pass through LG’s Palm Desert’s 12-foot double doors, made from Saguaro cactus, there is an ample three-sided bar. Once inside, the diner gets the feeling of “BIG”. From the 14-1/2 foot beamed ceilings, which crown the graceful curves and arches of the southwestern-style adobe walls, to the extra large steak knives, which are set on every starched white linen draped table, everything at LG’s says “BIG.”

Why do we call ourselves LG’s Prime Steakhouse? Quite simply because PRIME is the best by any standard and is the USDA’s highest designation for beef.

Locally owned by co-founders Leon and Gail Greenberg, LG’s features nine different USDA Prime Only sizzling steaks and boasts a rare on premises dry-age facility for its ‘Jewel in the Crown’, a 24oz Porterhouse for one and an even bigger 30oz Porterhouse, The Gold Strike 49er. We’re the first Prime Steakhouse within 100 miles that dry-ages beef on the premises. The process of dry-aging enhances and intensifies the distinctive flavor and tenderness associated with Prime steaks. It is a time consuming and costly method, but it is our belief that nothing can match the taste and texture created by Natural Dry-Aging.

LG’s prides itself on their now-famous rack of lamb and a generous cut of Prime Rib. In addition, LG’s features other non-steak entrees including fresh fish of the day, a colossal poupon lobster tail, king crab legs, and a whole oven-roasted chicken breast. The best way to begin your dining experience is with LG’s tableside Caesar salad!

LG’s wine list of over 500 selections is the largest of any Steakhouse in the Palm Springs area and is the perfect complement to our first class steaks. LG’s is open for dinner from 5:30 p.m. daily 365 days a year.

Leon, or “LG” as he’s fondly called, enjoys saying, “LG’s is locally owned and nationally known.”
